Bring your horse or wagon and enjoy a leisurely ride on the Greenbrier River Trail
Use our trail maps to design a wagon ride and experience moving along a river in your horse drawn wagon.

The fifth annual Greenbrier River Trail Wagon Train will be held Aug. 16 thru Aug. 23.
E.J. Marcum, owner of E.J.'s Cottages and Stables in Sitlington, leads a train of horse-drawn wagons down the Greenbrier River Trail on a 9 day trip that covers 154 miles.
"Anyone who wants to ride can come along," Marcum said.
The wagon train starts out from Marcum's stables on the river trail in Sitlington and continues south to Caldwell. Wagoneers then head north to the trail's end in Cass before returning to Sitlington, effectively covering the 77-mile Greenbrier River Trail twice.
Marcum guides the trips free of charge. Riders are responsible for their own gear, provisions, wagons and horses, he explained.
An account of the 2005 excursion can be seen at Sept 2005 Mountian Times [Scroll down to the second story]

Of the 11 wagons that started 2005's excursion, only five completed the entire ride.
Last year's Greenbrier River Trial excursion drew riders from Pennsylvania, Ohio, Charleston and even folks from right here in Pocahontas County.
      E. J looks forward to a bigger train forming this year.
Call or write soon to help plan for this unique oppurtunity to hear EJ yell,

"Wagons Ho!"

Remember the fifth annual Greenbrier River Trail Wagon Train will be held Aug. 16 thru Aug. 23, 2008
      See you there.

Due to rising insurance costs in WV we are unable to rent horses for trail rides. We can board your horses and offer stabling and access to pasture during your stay with us so you can ride the Greenbrier River Trail, Seneca State Forest or Monongahela National Forest on your own horse.
